This is Newcity.com's second birthday, which is twenty years in Internet time. We're taking this opportunity to make some fundamental changes to the site, many of which have been phased in over the past week or so. Some are editorial - we've expanded and restructured our coverage areas to include games and comedy, plus a whole new life section, which incorporates work, money, travel, health & fitness, love and sex, fashion and shopping. And we've consolidated our coverage of politics and subcultures in our news section.
Some of our changes are navigational. We've fixed a long-irritating redundancy in our login process for those of you who use our email or our discussion boards, and we've greatly expanded the depth of our "live" pages to incorporate many more stories, as well as - we hope - handy sidebar features. We've created the ability to drill down by artwork, whether film, music, TV, book or game. And we've changed our framing technique to simplify navigation around our network of partner sites.
Most of our changes were made possible by extensive programming to the site, as we've built an entirely new engine for the site. The entire Newcity team has worked at breakneck speed to get us ready for today - especially Marcy Grant, Frank Sennett and Noel Tarnoff, -- and I want to thank everyone for their efforts.
