Tuman’s Alcohol Abuse Center
The sweetest stinkbox this side of a Delta juke, Tuman’s is the exemplar of the withering tradition of cheap-ass neighborhood watering holes. The four corners of many intersections once held a panoply of family storefronts, a bakery, a grocery, a tavern within walking (or staggering) distance always. Can seedy be trendy? Nope. Seedy trumps. This place is dark, laid-back, verrrrrrrry cheap, and has a great jukebox. If you’ve lost touch with an ex in the ‘hood on their way down to the gutter, you might find them here underneath a few two-buck Guinnesses. They don’t call this place an “Alcohol Abuse Center” for nothing. Plus it’s dark. Dark.
