Carnival Cigarettes
Made in South Korea by the Korean Tobacco & Ginseng Company, the American export version is blended for American tastes: the 100’s are the most popular and seem to mimic a bit of that “horsey” hit that makes Marlboro so popular here. The regular version—we are told-taste roughly like a cross between a toasty Winston and Marlboro Gold. The menthols are a lot like the reformulated Kools, perhaps toned down a bit toward a light menthol. In other words, the Carnies are at the light end of regular, but aren’t at all “lite”; and boy, are they cheap. Outside of Chicago, purchase of a carton will drag the per-pack price down to about $3.50.
