Brooks Shoe Service
In our disposable culture, we’ve lost touch with the likes of tailors and cobblers. But when you spend dearly for shoes, and they’re worth saving but need fixing, you go to Brooks. Upstairs in the Pittsfield Building in the Loop, Brooks is exactly what a shoe-repair shop should be. It’s the place Marshall Field’s, Neiman Marcus and Barneys send their customers. Third-generation owner Mike Morelli presides over every order, and interacts with every customer. And those customers range from casts on Chicago stages to Loop workers to out-of-towners who rely on Brooks’ mail service. They’ll even pick your shoes up for you, or come downstairs to the curb to meet you. Either way, your shoes will come back looking new.
