Center on Halsted
The center built for the LGBT community offers handfuls of programs—including the Horizons Youth Program, which is “designed to assist young people in developing a genuine sense of self and becoming comfortable with both their uniqueness and their similarities”—but also offers a variety of mental health services, from HIV hotlines and the Anti-Violence Project, which assists in counseling and support for victims and survivors of hate crimes. The 60,000-square-foot monster of a building sends a strong message by its very presence as well.
