Looptopia
Normally moribund after dark, for one night this spring the Loop came alive. And we mean alive, as 200,000 Chicagoans—students, suburbanites and more—took to the streets of downtown till the wee hours and turned the city’s business district into an all-night all-ages party. With 300 artists and live performers firing up more than a hundred venues, including such unconventional nightlife destinations as the alley behind the old Carson’s store (a dance club) and the Cultural Center (flashlight tours), Looptopia exceeded all expectations, ensuring it an ongoing berth on the can’t-miss cultural calendar of Chicago.
