World Music Festival
When the HotHouse fell victim to a bitter fight between its founder and its board, ultimately shutting its doors, the city was left with a huge vacuum with regards to world-music performances. No other venue has stepped up to fill the void, so we’re presently left with just a week each September to immerse ourselves in the sounds that shape the global culture outside our borders. We can’t really decide: does this new undernourishment for global music help us appreciate the outstanding World Music Festival that much more, or does it simply make us miss the HotHouse that much more? Probably both.
