Guided by Voices, December 31, 2004
First shows are special, but final shows can be legendary, and Ohio’s Guided by Voices—the godfathers of lo-fi, melodic and quickfire indie rock—chose our Metro for its curtain call. For more than three hours, the band boozed through its catalogue, hitting stops at “Game of Pricks,” “I Am I Scientist” and even “Do the Earth.” Even for a venue that’s hosted Nirvana, R.E.M and Radiohead, GVB signed off in style, in a show that will never be forgotten.
