The Local Option
If you weren’t looking for it, it’d be easy to pass up this hole-in-the-wall on the outskirts of DePaul’s campus—but you’d be sorry you did. Think Cajun classics like andouille-sausage jambalaya, catfish po’ boys on crusty French bread and terrific fish tacos, all named after former and current Option employees. The prices are slightly above the norm for bar food, but one bite of the guacamole with fresh-made chips will justify the dent in your wallet, not to mention loads of free street parking outside. Just make sure to ask owner Tony to recommend a cold brew off the extensive beer menu—he’s never steered us wrong.
