Devil in a Woodpile
Every Tuesday night for the last twelve years, Devil in a Woodpile has cranked out old-timey blues and ragtime tunes from the Hideout’s floor. The front room fills to the gills while a burly bearded bartender serves cans of Old Style. In addition to a washboard worn shiny and silver from thousands of strums, the band uses guitar, bass, clarinet, harmonica and an occasional kazoo duet to spin out songs from the likes of Fats Waller. “We’re stuck in a generation we wished we lived in,” says lead man, Rick “Cookin” Sherry. “No Internet, I tell ya what.”
