While much of the stuff going on this time of year centers only on Christmas, the Chicago Socialist Party provides something a little more everybody-friendly at their annual Winterfest, held December 13 at Quencher’s Saloon. “Winterfest is an ecumenical gathering for Hindus, Christians, Jews, for everybody,” says Dr. William Pelz, CSP Secretary/Treasurer. “It’s a chance to have coffee or a beer and talk about what could or should be done in our country.” Winterfest, however, won’t just be a series of serious discussions. With jazz by Undertow, a raffle and Quencher’s extensive selection of beer at hand, the evening is sure to involve at least a little bit of merry-making. “The defeat of Sarah Palin certainly gives us a lot to celebrate this year,” laughs Pelz.
