At the bank
Scoff all you want at the seemingly shameless propensity for self-promotion that this local restaurant and nightclub impresario and Friend of David Schwimmer exhibits, through his blog, through his mass emails, through his Twittering (recent tweet: “With EMMY winner buddy @JeremyPiven at Sunda celebrating the Chicago EMMY I just won! Cheers Chicago!”), but who are we to laugh? Dec is not the first to use the emerging “all about me” social media to will himself into being a personal brand, but since he co-owns businesses fueled by hype, he’s certainly one of the shrewdest in doing so. Sure the smart set might cringe at the constant name-dropping, the tragically unhip quality of his antics, but the mainstream media and the hoi polloi? They’re lapping it up, turning his burgeoning nightlife and restaurant business into what seems to be a cash machine. At least that’s what we read somewhere.
