The Wit Hotel
It was like, “What the hell is that green lightning bolt on the side of that building about?” Then in May, lightning struck. And it caught fire in a way that only Ms. O’Leary’s cow could love. Outside of the swankiness of the rooms and suites and the sexiness of the people, the disclosure of the damn-near hidden restaurant (State and Lake) off-the-lobby or the meeting rooms that were used for an art show of John Lennon’s original works (the Yoko porno pieces were crazy!), what made thousands of people bum rush the hotel the opening week was the bar that was built twenty-seven floors up that they simply called ROOF. Everything Hyatt wants their NoMi rooftop bar to be, this one is. And to think, it’s owned by DoubleTree? What’s next, Motel 6 commissions Ian Schrager to design a new line of boutique rent-by-the-hour rooms?
