Wax Trax! Retrospectacle at Metro
April 15, 2011 marked an event for the American history books and we’re not talking taxes: a festival devoted solely and wholly to Chicago’s late Wax Trax! Records. Organized by the original owner Jim Nash’s daughter Julia and Metro’s Joe Shanahan, the three-day party ushered in a number of acts from the industrial label’s roster, including Front Line Assembly, the Revolting Cocks, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, all of whom waxed nostalgic for the good ol’ glory days when an underdog record company could be housed on Lincoln Avenue. For those keeping track, it’s now an orthodontist’s office.
