Stop signs in the middle of crosswalks
How many times have you stood at a non-stoplight crosswalk waiting for a chance to cross the street while car after car whizzed by you? Or began to make your way across the street only to see a car hurtling toward you? In July the city gave walkers a little more than white lines on the ground for protection, installing fifty new signs in the center of these crosswalks, and reminding drivers that state law requires them to stop (not just yield) to pedestrians in crosswalks.
