Polish Film Festival in America
Since 1989, Chicago has hosted the Polish Film Festival in America, a collection of dramas, comedies, action flicks and documentaries that harken to the traditions of European cinema with a clear Polish context, while also breaking new ground for global audiences and providing exposure for emerging filmmakers. With government backing and support from Chicago’s Society for Arts, the festival imports more than seventy films (and many of the films’ remarkable Polish directors), reaching an audience that exceeds 30,000 viewers. Not to mention that the PFFA always includes the Polish films nominated for the Academy Awards.
