Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson, Cecily Strong Quite a few members of “Saturday Night Live” have found their way to New York via Chicago comedy stalwarts Second City and iO, including current cast members Vanessa Bayer, Jason Sudeikis and Seth Meyers (Fred Armisen also has ties to Chicago). But in early September, SNL grabbed three new cast members from Chicago at once to replace departing cast members Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Abby Elliott. Within the week all three of them were appearing in the well-received opening episode of the infamous sketch show’s thirty-eighth season. Here’s to several more years of Chicago comedians setting the bar for American sketch comedy.
