“Teddy Ferrara”
Midway through opening night of Christopher Shinn’s tragic “Teddy Ferrara” at Goodman Theatre, an elderly woman became unresponsive in her seat, prompting the patrons around her to panic, calling an ambulance, asking everyone to back away and give her space and halting the show. The actors froze in place and then passed a pillow off the rather spartan set for the woman to lie on more comfortably. She eventually came around and as the audience held its collective breath watching EMTs carrying her out of the Owen Theatre on a stretcher, she raised both arms above her head and declared, “I’m so sorry ya’ll.”
