Booze
Beverage service is popping up at movie theaters across the Midwest, including the “MacGuffins” bars at China-owned AMC Theatres. Logan Square’s Logan Theatre adds to its four-screen movie attractions with a sweet bar partially built with elements from the earliest incarnation of the neighborhood playhouse. Beers on tap are mostly locally brewed, and there’s a strong, small selection of locally distilled spirits that can be quaffed in the Deco-ish bar or taken into the theater in sneaky-seeming plastic go cups. And the hosting of a growing roster of local film events, including CIMM, CUFF and Chicago Filmmakers’ Reeling, can only be more impressive after a sharpener or two.
