Will Bishop, graduate of the University of Chicago, took his theory and put it into practice in a real way—a theatrical way—by forming a new theater company called “FFT,” named lovingly after the University of Chicago’s First Floor Theater space. The group, largely made up of alumni, believes in (in Will’s words) “art-making at UChicago, an ephemeral quality that I’ve now come to think of as intellectual curiosity…For me, this is the belief that fuels FFT. The belief that artists must be both unusually creative and unusually intelligent to make great, meaningful work.” The plan? To continue pushing the boundary of creativity and intellectualism.
