Our flag is more badass than most other major American cities’ flags
Chicagoans embrace their city flag much more than people in most other major cities. It could be civic pride, overcompensation, or a sense of alienation from the rest of Illinois. Or maybe it’s just a boss flag. It has all the cool austerity of a Middle Eastern dictatorship with the warm primary colors of a crony republic. It looks the same upside-down as it does right-side-up. It doesn’t have words on it. And compared to an aesthetic atrocity such as the Los Angeles flag, it’s just fun to look at, wear, or repurpose. Only DC’s flag is anywhere near as cool.
