“Facing Angela”
Playwright Scott T. Barsotti, company member of WildClaw Theatre, has an affinity for the horror genre, and a number of his plays feature some kind of physical or psychological horror. For example, his female lead in “Kill Me” believed she was cursed with the inability to die. But in this summer’s “Facing Angela” (a show Barsotti workshopped and rewrote with The Ruckus Theater from a ten-year-old script) his main character (the titular Angela, played by five separate actresses throughout the show) is diagnosed with an allergic reaction to her own skeleton and skin. If you think that sounds painful, you should have seen the expertly gory makeup work by Ally Renee Amidei and Sarah Scanlon that brought this epic disease to life.
