“Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity”
The Art Institute of Chicago took something beloved and well known by the majority of its visitors—French Impressionism—and spun a new angle on it, thereby refreshing its contemporary relevance, in the blockbuster exhibition “Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity.” This included an AstroTurf-lined floor and a soundtrack of chirping birds to emulate a stroll through a park. It proved that galleries, like paintings, are virtual spaces.
