The Moth: Chicago
With regular sellouts and lines forming outside two hours before show time, the popularity of The Moth: Chicago does not let up. It remains one of the biggest and baddest live lit events in town. There’s always an entertaining variety of contestants and The Moth’s charming hosts—local comedian, Brian Babylon (at the Martyrs’ location) and WBEZ’s director of live events, Don Hall (at the Haymarket Pub and Brewery site)—are virtuosos at dazzling the audience with amusing digressions, while keeping the show on track and energy levels high. Moth StorySLAMS take place once a month at each location. If one needs a larger dose, there are also GrandSLAM Championships, The Moth Ball, The Moth Radio Hour, and The Moth Podcast.
