Unabridged Bookstore
The magical sale section occupies roughly one-third of the otherwise comprehensive and LGBTQ-friendly indie, and it’s not the usual coffee-table array, outdated almanacs or pile of diet cookbooks. Most of the selection is stuff you probably heard about on NPR in the last five years that either didn’t sell or were bought in massive quantities. Marquee works by required reading authors—Baldwin, Atwood, Lorrie Moore, Vonnegut—all run about $5. Hardcovers are usually under $10, and there’s even a “Gay Sale Section.” It’s a good place to pick up a classic, take a chance on something new, or buy a economical yet sophisticated gift for that friend with all the bookshelves.
