The streets have changed. Yes, there is still the grime in urban fashion that makes Chicago beautiful, but this year (thanks to Kanye and his public “leather sweatpants” rants) the aesthetic for street wear (not “street gear,” know the difference) went upscale. Marcelo Burlon basketball, backpacks, skateboards and helmets; $600 Rick Owens’ DRKSHDW slim cut, no fly pants; $5K collarless Givenchy leather jackets; anything Pigalle. The streets have finally caught up to Virgil Abloh’s (owner) concept. There used to be a time when rocking PRPS jeans and a BBC hoodie was enough. Not anymore.
