It took Common to bring not just Dave Chappelle out of semi-retirement, but to get home-folks Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco, Rhymefest, Lil Herb and a special GA by Kanye to share the afternoon with Jay Electronica, De La Soul, MC Lyte and Diggy Simmons on a stage in Union Park to bring some sense of unity to the city at a time when the police chief and the mayor have no answers for the violence that has become our norm. Will it ever happen again? We can only hope. But we can also hope that the next time it is not so needed.
