Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Rhona Hoffman Gallery
A Chicago native who moved to Brooklyn a decade ago, Nathaniel Mary Quinn returned to his hometown this fall for his first solo show in Chicago courtesy of Rhona Hoffman. This spare exhibition of ten works packed his traumatic memories of growing up in the crime-ridden Robert Taylor homes into dense drawings of brilliant, Frankenstein photorealism. With racial ruptures rightfully back in the media spotlight, Quinn spoke truth to the truism that black lives matter.
