Family Theater is often code word for “plan on sneaking glances at your phone while your kids have a good time.” It does not have to be that way. And in fact some of the best family theater around is not explicitly advertised as such. Paramount Theatre in sure-is-a-long-drive Aurora consistently offers big city productions at little city prices. Their production of “Oklahoma!” was especially impressive for the high production values that included a full orchestra, an imaginative set design, brilliant costumes and a talented cast worthy of an encore performance. If only all family entertainment were this, well, entertaining.
