Mary Wu at Links Hall
At it since April when Mary Wu organized the first one, this monthly Saturday afternoon gathering for improvisational dance demonstrates a particular degree of rigor. As a student of mechanical engineering at Northwestern University and an employee of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Wu has a particular investment in the mechanics of physical movement, and brings an infectious enthusiasm paired with a keen knowledge of improvisational work. Kid-friendly, and instructive for both the expert and novice alike, Wu’s passion for the form is clear. Also, for those sensitive to touch, while contact improv is a welcome part of her monthly gatherings, they are not a requirement for participation.
