Tiny audiences
Tiny as in number, not stature. Be it Khecari’s “Oubliette” and “The Cronus Land” staged within a small pit or The Cambrians’ “The Nexus Project” in a living room-like set, some of the best dance shows in 2015 took place before audiences barely more numerous than the company members performing a few feet away. The experience was entrancing, not only for those of us who like to sit close enough to see the synapses fire and the chi flow, but for performers interested in probing the transformative energy exchange between the watcher and the watched.
