Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s increase in property tax
This year, Mayor Rahm Emanuel proposed a historically massive property tax hike with little regard for the city’s ever-increasing rates for renters or property owners staring down an almost insurmountable tide of developers seeking to systematically divide and conquer the city one neighborhood at a time. The increase eventually passed but not before Rahm tried to add another measure calling for a new fee for garbage collection, a tax on e-cigarettes, increased charges for taxi services, and a service fee on breathing oxygen within the city limits. Well, at least we saved money closing all those schools.
