The mayor’s plunging popularity in the city over the last few years was oh-so perfectly answered by a challenge to his honor by local (then) teen Duncan Ritchie. A senior at Wells Community Academy High School at the time, Ritchie’s Facebook event page immediately went viral, drawing at least four thousand to the potential spectacle of Rahm’s public knifing. Second only perhaps to similarly absurdist memes calling for the overturning of Trump Tower into the Chicago River (a feat, sadly, not physically possible), the media warmed to the high-schooler’s brio with a swarm of coverage.
