“Buffer Overrun,” Ginger Krebs
Among the many dancers working in performance art crossover, few demonstrated the temerity and inventiveness of Ginger Krebs in her “Buffer Overrun” at The Storefront Theater earlier this year. Evoking a Tron-like world of dancers as automatons, the long-in-development piece opened to critical accolades. Using a tilted floor, the performers crawled, rolled and engaged in movement-making that was remarkable for its range in exploring a new relationship with gravity. Teetering on the fulcrum of dance and visual construct, it was a fresh first step in a city where other such forays more often than not come across as rote, safe and not particularly challenging.
