Uptown Uprising
Few organizations have done as much to push back against neglect of the homeless in the city as the community coalition of Uptown Uprising. The group has fought to hold accountable those city officials who have failed to follow through on promises to provide housing solutions, and the seemingly endless machinations of Alderman James Cappleman to evacuate the Tent City beneath a viaduct. Uptown Uprising has consistently helped replace tents, handed out gloves and socks, provided meals and organized protest marches and actions in defense of the rights of these men and women.
