Bridgeport Air & Water Show
Kite enthusiasts were delighted by this year’s annual Bridgeport Air and Water Show staged at the peak of Palmisano Park. At the site of the Stearns Quarry, the man-made waterfront was stocked with fish and available for fishing, with instruction available from Henry’s Sports and Bait Shop. Touted by Maureen Sullivan, president of the advisory council to the park, the event didn’t disappoint, drawing a constant stream of attendees and showcasing giant-scale kite riggings resembling birds and fanciful bow-trussed creatures that somehow managed to stay aloft with lines simply weighted to bags placed in the grass. Others manipulated an array of stunt kites that buzzed through the air, sweeping through the shadow of high-altitude kites that took closer to the swiftly moving cloud formations overhead.
