World Naked Bike Ride
It’s with some inordinate degree of pride that cyclists by the thousands cruise this city in a great swarming mass aboard bicycles, tricycles, freak bikes, skateboards and all other manner of non-combustion fueled locomotion throughout the streets of Chicago every year. Many completely, unabashedly naked and dangly-where-bodies-do come to sag, an array of colors from unsunned, blinding white, to pink to dark-skinned, sailing by with gleeful exuberance as stunned tourists and locals alike fumble for their cellphones to record the spectacle. Ostensibly a protest ride against the evils of Big Oil, repeated in other cities around the globe, this annual summer event is completely legal and protected by the police, who ride along to thwart any untoward behavior by riders or bystanders alike.
