George Lucas may not get his museum but he married Mellody Hobson at one of the most beautiful places on the lakefront: The Promontory. After fighting your way through crowds on the north side of the path, there is nothing like cruising the South Side and veering off at 53rd Street to lie down in the sun on the rocks by Hyde Park. If you bring a towel you can jump in. Plus you can always swing by The Cove or Jimmy’s for a drink, or Powell’s for a book before heading back home.
