The Century
Back when it was first opened in 1925, during the heyday of theater, vaudeville and circus, The Century was known as “The Diversey Theatre.” The name change to “The Century” occurred a little before WWII, by movie businessmen who acquired the property. In the late 1970s this place was set to be torn down. This is when local developers got involved to save the building, redesigning it to what we now know as “The Century Shopping Centre” in the Lakeview neighborhood. This place is unique not only because of its history but because it houses a gym, a cinema, a cupcake shop, a beauty salon and a Victoria’s Secret. You can work out, shop and enjoy a film all in the same place.
