If you frequent the Map Room at night, try stopping by in the wee hours, too. Starting at 6:30am Monday through Friday, the Bucktown dive bar serves a grab-and-go breakfast. They open the windows, put out newspapers and serve bagels from New York Bagel & Bialy in Skokie, pastries from Bennison’s Bakery in Evanston, sandwiches from Goddess and the Grocer, as well as coffee, cappuccino, cold-brew and lattes from Intelligentsia. Starbucks may be across the street, but this stuff is “better quality,” says morning manager Brittany Pisano. “We don’t have to dress it up with a bunch of whipped cream and sprinkles.”
