For this twenty-fourth edition of Best of Chicago, we broke our own rules. We asked some of the finest minds in Chicago to think about “best” in a more expansive and, at times, eternal way, and construct “New Canons for Chicago” that offer, instead of one, ten to twelve choices on a particular subject.
We don’t expect you’ll mind, especially since we still reached out to some of the city’s most thoughtful writers to help assemble nearly 150 “bests,” written in our signature style, across the categories of City Life, Culture & Nightlife, Food & Drink and Goods & Services.
