If you weren’t at the quarter-million-strong Women’s March, you missed a generational watershed. Of all the reasons to protest the newly elected President Trump, few were as momentous. Coming on the heels of an electoral college victory that wrested away the presidency from a woman who won the popular vote count by a margin near three million, the event had the visceral punch of a primal scream against the structural misogyny and sexism that made his win possible. The march both condemned our new normal and released, through the sheer righteousness of its shriek of outrage, a new hope that the people would, against impossible odds, still somehow find a way to persist. And, of course, truth will always find a way.
