Apogee
A good bar is always about more than just the booze, and Benjamin Schiller’s Apogee is way better than just a good bar. You can get an excellent Manhattan-type drink of wheated bourbon, Dark Matter coffee essence and pipe tobacco in a straight rocks glass, but most drinkers at this rooftop tavern atop the Dana Hotel go for the exotic packaged beverages, like the 1-UP, served in a large ceramic fly agaric mushroom, or Mr. Nice-Guy, which is served in a smoke-filled, flower-bedecked bong. Add to the blitzed-out beverages a sky-high vantage point of the city beneath, and you’ve going to have a good trip.
