Prairie School, a gleaming new Fulton Market cocktail bar from the owners of Sportsman’s Club, Estereo and Lone Wolf, as well as James Beard award-winning bartender Jim Meehan, mingles Midwestern and Japanese influences in its decor and rotating drinks menu of a dozen or so cocktails. Wright wasn’t fancy or particularly fancy, as the New York Times reported in 1958: “Before dinner he often sips a single Irish whisky with a water chaser. ‘A man is a fool if he drinks before he reaches the age of 50, and a fool if he doesn’t afterward,’ he explains.”
