Ravenswood Manor
Though sometimes the page can descend into barking between people who, for some reason, think that even though they all live in the same generalized geographic area, the internet still somehow magically grants them anonymity. And it sure can get gossipy. But the Ravenwood Manor group on Facebook also helped mobilize response to Nazi graffiti at Waters Elementary School, helped residents stay informed about crime in the area, and communicated effectively with local 17th precinct commander Elias Voulgaris and 33rd Ward alderman Deb Mell. Equal parts gossipy and a modern-day neighborhood watch, virtual watering hole and town hall rolled into one, the Ravenswood Manor group sets a high bar for community engagement.
