Those who have tracked the resurgence of former Ashtray Boy member J. Niimi (aka DJ Personal Bankruptcy) will note that his return to music began as nights as DJ in residency with Wax On Wax Off, spinning singles at Reggies, at Township or its original location at Delilah’s. But when he showed up at the Chicago Underground Film Festival, it felt like the late 1990s all over again, born of that particular era as the festival and its music-maker were, and an alignment of the stars seemed to have taken place.
