Chicago’s gospel community doesn’t get its due in these pages (we’re working on it), but it’s not because Malcolm Williams and his crew aren’t making enough joyful noise. They summon enough hand-clapping, foot-stamping, raise-the-roof euphoria to—well, truly raise the roof, if it ever came to that. Their show-stopping turn at this summer’s Gospel Festival was enough to convert stray birds that flew overhead. If salvation has a soundtrack, this is it.
