The Return of DePaul Basketball to the City
For thirty-six years true Chicago hoop fans have been traveling up I-90/94—stuck in I-90/94 traffic—to watch the Blue Demons hoop, watching the women’s team strive for greatness year after year while waiting for the men’s team to return to the glory days of Mark Aguirre and Ray Meyer. With the opening of the freshly minted 12,000-seat Wintrust Arena in the South Loop, part of the McCormick Place redevelopment, The Chi can reclaim the D1 inner-city university basketball program without having to ride-share with people who don’t know what CTA stands for.
