People of East Albany Park
Most block parties in the city are provincial affairs, restricted to a single stretch of road giving its homeowners a chance to roll out the welcome wagon for all the other hard-working taxpaying neighbors, fire up a grill, have a few beers. But the block party put on by the People of East Albany Park welcomes whoever wants to come, whether you live on the block or any other pocket of the city, and everybody pitches in to welcome one and all who jam-pack this little stretch of residential street for their annual neighborhood block party, dancing, eating, children playing, all in a welcoming spirit of generosity pretty much unparalleled by others in Chicago today.
