Open TV (beta)
Netflix? Nope. Amazon? Nope again. Few have done more to provide a streaming online digital platform for artists, including those working in traditional narrative forms, than Aymar Jean Christian’s Open TV (beta). Innovating on traditional streaming services, Christian, who teaches at Northwestern University (which has partly helped support the development of the project), is the shepherding force behind the show-runners to whom he provides a springboard. The efficacy of Open TV (beta) lies in the originality of its approach to online prestige programming overlooked by the other gargantuan entities. Smart, grassroots and driven for all the right reasons, we expect Aymar and his efforts to flower in directions new and innovative, and count Chicago lucky to serve as its laboratory.
